Every student knows that being named to the honor roll is a big deal in school. Now, it's an ever bigger deal.
The idea came from two students at International Academy in Bloomfield Hills.
Sisters Alexa and Adriana Doria look like most high school students - they study hard and they're both athletes at the school - but anybody who knows them say they're special.
"They are also both athletes. They stand out academically they are well liked by their peers admired by their teachers for their responsibility their desire to always improve themselves they have strength of character and generally just really great kids," English teacher Sarah Clancy said.
Now, they have a new mission to help share what's good in the world.
"All too often there are very sad stories in the world and obviously they need to be told but we wanted to show the other, lighter side of the world and just acknowlege teenagers who sometimes dont have the opportunity to be acknowledged," Alexa said.
Together with FOX 2, they're helping to launch a special project we've dubbed "Honor Roll". They started searching for positive stories about positive people - and they knew exactly what they were searching for the splended honor.
"Kids who have really good grades, or a varsity athlete, or do cool things in their community such as community service you know creating a non profit organization just really outstanding things that teens don't normally do," Adriana said.
Now, it's up to you. You can be part of the FOX 2 Honor Roll and share your stories about young people making a positive difference in the world. They want everyone to hear about kids who are on track to do great things.
