Andrew Lloyd Webber on why he picked Detroit for US premiere of 'Love Never Dies'

Legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is in Detroit for the U.S. premiere of "Love Never Dies," which follows the next chapter in the lives of the characters from "The Phantom of the Opera."

"I know those characters so well and I'd like to just invest in them one more time, and then I want to close the story," he says of writing the musical. You can hear more from him about the musical in the video player above.

Andrew Lloyd Webber says one of the reasons he picked Detroit for the United States' premiere is the good experience he had years ago at the Fisher Theatre with Petula Clark, a touring concert show.

"When they said, 'Come here,' I thought, 'Wow, that's a really nice idea. Really good. And I knew the building, really good acoustics here," he says.

He says thus far, he has also been very impressed with the quality of musicians in the city.

"You've got some fantastic, extreme players here. Really wonderful," he says.

"Love Never Dies" is at the Fisher Theatre now through October 29, 2017 with several matinee and evening showings. You can get more information on showtimes and tickets online here
