(WJBK) - Recently, CreditCard.com conducted a survey ranking cities on who was best managing their money. What they found was not what they expected, especially when it came to Detroit.
Detroit's credit score is about in the middle of the pack compared to other big cities in America, which was surprising to researchers since the city has one of the higher unemployment rates and a lower average income level.
In fact, though, Detroit beat the odds and came in 8th out of the 25 biggest cities in the country when it came to money management skills.
According to the study, Detroiters keep fairly low balances on their credit cards. The city had one of the lowest average credit card balances of any of the 25 biggest American cities.
A good suggestion for keeping your credit score good is to set up an auto pay for your credit card payments.
