Track Metro Detroit school closings

Many school closings have rolled in Wednesday morning amid frigid temperatures and an upcoming snow storm.

All K-12 schools of the Detroit Public Schools Community District will dismiss 2 hours early based on its normal bell schedule, and all after school and CTC classes will be canceled. 

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for all counties in metro Detroit until 12 a.m. Thursday. 

Heavy snow is expected Wednesday. The evening commute is expected to be hectic amid the falling snow. CLICK HERE for a live traffic map that includes accident locations and cameras.

Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches are expected with locally higher amounts possible. Snowfall rates this afternoon reaching an inch per hour or greater. 

Over the weekend, Southeast Michigan got its first winter blast but it's going to continue all week with snow already starting to pile up in Detroit.

On Saturday, Metro Detroit received about an inch of snow and on Monday, even more pulled in. By the time it's all said and done, we could see between 1 and 3 inches of snow by Tuesday morning. Bringing the total since Saturday morning to 3-5 inches, depending on where you live.
