Tech Talk: Health and Workout Gadgets

SOUTHFIELD, Mich -- New year, new you right?  For some of us the new year is the time to kick off that new workout regimen... and new technology and apps are here to help you stay on track and motivated.

Fitbit may be the most popular, and Mark Kennedy from Best Buy says the new product line works great.  Easy to use, lightweight and semi stylish, the Fitbit Flex comes in many colors starting at $99.99 (while other versions run $30 more).  Fitbit of course isn't the only wearable fitness tech on the market... perhaps you'll be into the Microsoft Band ($199.99) or Garmin's vivofit ($99.99).  All are good choices.

(note: The Apple Watch is not yet available for purchase, but is rumored to be around $349.99)

Other fitness accessories include smart scales (Fitbit: $129.99, iHealth: $99.99, Taylor: $79.99) and a plethora of apps.  An added bonus for the fitness apps is it allows you to "compete" socially with friends to stay motivated.
