Tech Talk: Top Gadgets of 2014

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- 2014 was an amazing year for technology and gadgets.  Mark Kennedy from Best Buy says Apple was king though, creating a storm of sales for their new iPhone 6 ($199 with contract) and iPhone 6 Plus ($299 with contract)... as well as their new line of iPad Air (starting at $499).  When it comes to creating hoopla, nobody does it better than Apple.

Stores saw major interest in GoPro (the newest Hero 4 starts at $399) as well as Google Chromecast ($35).  And drones became very popular for the "taking flight enthusiast" (kits range from $99 to $799).

As we started to look ahead to 2015, Mark said they are anticipating a spike in Smart Home Electronics.  For example, the Kwikset Smart Lock (roughly $219.99).  It's a lock that you can control from your smart phone, allowing access to your house even when you are away.  Also, the Nest Smart Thermostat (listed at $249.99) which allows you to control the heat of your home through your phone or tablet.  Pretty cool stuff!

Mark said another trend to watch in 2015 is the emerging popularity of 4K TV's.  The newest version of super high def TVs range between $1000 and $4000.
