(WJBK) - The State of Michigan ranks dead last in the Great Lakes states in the latest "Best and Worse schools" poll and in the bottom half of the entire nation.
The survey considers SAT scores, percentage of licensed teachers, drop out rates, safety and pupil-student ratio to rank the states and while Michigan ranks third on the highest SAT scores it ranks behind Wisconsin which finishes number five, Minnesota at number ten, at 12 is Indiana followed by Illinois at 13th. Rounding out the region Ohio is number 31 and then Michigan at 34th.
Michigan ranks 29th on safety and has an average score of 47% compared to Massachusetts which ranks number one at 74%.
Rounding out the top four after Massachusetts is New Jersey, Connecticut and Vermont.
Louisiana comes in at the bottom in the findings compiled by WalletHub.
