Fifth-grade teammates both lose parents within weeks of each other

- Quarterbacks and running backs have a unique relationship on the football field that requires constant communication. For two Dallas fifth graders, however, that relationship is extra special. Having both lost a parent suddenly and within weeks of each other, that communication is vital.

Chance Pryor’s father died in a car accident, and weeks later, Amarion Simon Jones lost his mother when police say she was shot and killed by her boyfriend.

"Sometimes when he breaks down, I tell him don't worry about it because I do the same thing, too,” said Chance.

The camaraderie that has helped them on the field is now helping them through these tragedies.

Amarion’s father, Antonio Jones, sees how much they do for one another.

“I know there are times when they'll be down, but for the most part when they're around each other they're upbeat and happy,” Jones said.

Teammates enjoy their victories, but the great ones stick together through the lows of life.

"I just think they're an amazing team. And I think they're going to make it,"  said Chance’s mother, Shelly Ransom.

Win or lose on the field, these two teammates’ bond is bigger than the game.
