(WJBK) - Each year the Leukemia and Lymphoma society launches its Man and Woman of the Year fundraising campaign. Andiamo owner Joe Vicari is a National Man of the Year candidate. He participates in honor of a dear friend, whom he lost to multiple myeloma in 2011, James Giftos, founder of National Coney Island.
All "votes" in this campaign are actually funds donated to support efforts toward a world without blood cancers.
Fourteen-year-old Aleison Kowalski, the 2016 Girl of the Year, joined him in studio to tell us more about the cause.
The gala to announce the Man and Woman of the Year is June 11 in Warren. Submit your vote by donating, and support a great cause. Donations are accepted March 30 through June 11, 2016 at any Andiamo location or Joe Muer Seafood. You can also get more information at www.mwoy.org.
