(WJBK) - Detroit police or Detroit fire?
Find out who can cut the mustard to become the top dog in the 6th Annual American Coney Island Coney Dog Eating Challenge. The big challenge is Thursday, September 1.
Detroit police officers and firefighters will compete to see who can take home the title. Right now, they're tied with one win each the past two years.
After that will be the main event -- with the reigning champ expected to return to keep his title and record of consuming 19 ½ coneys in 10 minutes.
You can watch the challenges at American Coney Island, at 114 W. Lafayette in Detroit.
If you'd like to compete you can register in advance for $10, or day of for $15. The champion gets a belt as well as prizes from a variety of local retailers, restaurants and other supporters, including one year of free meals at American Coney Island.
The event is open to the public with a suggested $5 donation.
