Local woman biking 4,200 miles for affordable housing

A local woman is getting ready to embark on an incredible journey to help those in desperate need of a home. Sabrina Orr is tuning up her bike and her hammer for a 4,200 mile trek across the country to raise awareness about problems with affordable housing in America.

She is cycling with the nonprofit Bike and Build. She and a handful of others will be making their way from Charleston to Santa Cruz, Calif. She'll stop in different towns and talk with them about affordable housing issues. There will also be 17 build days in the three months they'll be on the road.

In order to make this cross-country trip happen, each participant must raise $4,500. The money will be used to fund adult-driven affordable housing projects. You can learn more about Sabrina's trek and make a donation to the cause here.

You can also eat or grab a drink at Johnny Blacks Public House on Tuesday, May 10, where a portion of the total sales will be donated to Sabrina's cause, as well.
