Try this hard root beer float popsicle recipe from Treat Dreams

- Have you caught onto the hard root beer craze yet? What makes this trend even better, is it's enjoyable on its own or transformed into a dessert.

When the experts at Ferndale-based Treat Dreams tried Coney Island Hard Root Beer, they saw it as an opportunity to take the flavor to a cool new place.

Known for making ice cream out of unusual ingredients, Treat Dreams Owner Scott Moloney suggests trying Coney Island Hard Root Beer as a main ingredient for popsicles. It's even more delicious to add Treat Dreams' Vanilla Bean ice cream to the center for a creamsicle-style treat.

Coney Island Hard Root Beer Float Popsicles

Three bottles Coney Island Hard Root Beer, chilled (Note: Popsicles for those 21 and older) Open and pour in to a large pitcher.  Let sit until foam subsides. In the meantime, make the cream base:

1 c. Heavy Cream
½ c. Whole Milk
1/3 c. plus 1 T. granulated sugar
1 t. vanilla extract

Option 1:
Add Coney Island Hard Root Beer to popsicle molds, freeze 1 hour.  After the outer layer of the popsicle forms, pour out center of unfrozen beer, then pour cream base into the center. Add popsicle sticks. Freeze overnight.

Option 2:
Combine ingredients and stir until sugar is completely dissolved, about 3-4 minutes. Combine cream base and Coney Island Hard Root Beer.  Freeze in popsicle molds for 1 hour. Add popsicle sticks when they can stand up straight. Freeze overnight.

Note: Recipe makes 18 popsicles and can be cut in half to make fewer popsicles.
