Michael Weber of Weber's Restaurant joined us in the FOX 2 Cooking School to show us how he makes his homemade apple pie and caramel topping. You can get his recipe below.

Weber's Homemade Apple Pie and Caramel Topping
This is Weber's Restaurant of Ann Arbor's popular apple pie with streusel crumbles and drizzled with caramel
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Line a 9-inch deep dish pie pan with your favorite pie crust
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 and ½ cups heavy cream
1 tablespoon vanilla
Mix together in a bowl and set aside
Streusel Crisp Topping
1/2 stick softened butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
¾ cup flour
¼ cup oats
Mix together in a separate bowl until crumbly and set aside
6-7 apples cored and sliced, Weber's uses a mix of Granny Smith, Fuji and Jonathan's
Fill the pie dish with cored slice apples.
Add the sugar, flour, heavy cream and vanilla pie mixture
Top with the streusel
Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
Then, turn oven down to 325 degrees. Bake for another approximate 30 minutes until center is bubbly and apples are soft.
Weber's Homemade Caramel
½ cup water
1 and 1/3 cup sugar
8 ounces corn syrup
½ stick softened butter
2 cups room temperature heavy cream
In a heavy sauce pan cook the water, sugar, and corn syrup to 310 degrees F. (Or until it becomes a deep amber color)
Remove from heat. Slowly add in the softened butter with a whisk. Once the butter is melted, stir vigorously until the butter is fully incorporated.
Add the heavy cream SLOWLY. The mixture will bubble up. Be careful not to burn.Mix until the cream is fully incorporated. Stir occasionally until room temperature to keep from separating .
Serve it warm with the pie. A la mode or on its own!
