Ten miniature bakers with major talent will be put to the test to see whose skills measure up on Kids Baking Championship, premiering on Monday, January 4th at 8pm ET/PT on Food Network.
Over the season, Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman lead the kid contestants through tasty challenges designed to find the most impressive and creative young baker in the country. Their baking skills and originality must rise to the top, as they whip up delectable desserts including perfect pies, elegant eclairs, mouthwatering macarons, creative cakes, and crispy cookies. Only one will take the cake and the sweet grand prize of $25,000 to become the Kids Baking Champion!
One of the show's contestants Jane Haviland, from Ann Arbor, joins us in the FOX 2 Cooking School to show us how to prepare German Bisquitrolle.
5 T sugar
2 T hot water
1 T lemon juice
4 T flour (for chocolate, use ½ flour, ½ cocoa)
1 t baking powder
Powdered sugar for top
Fresh Whipped Cream and Berries
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Separate eggs.
3. Beat whites until stiff and set aside.
4. In a separate bowl, beat yolks, sugar, hot water, lemon juice, flour, and baking powder.
5. Carefully fold yolks into whites. You should still be able to see some whites.
6. Spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and greased with butter.
7. Bake 12-14 minutes.
8. Put powdered sugar on a towel.
9. Put baked cake on towel and GENTLY roll directly after baking until completely cool.
10. Once cool, unroll and put filling in.
11. Slice with a serrated knife and garnish with berries, powdered sugar, chocolate curls, etc . . .
