Woodpile BBQ at Arts, Beats and Eats

The annual festival celebrating art, music and food returns this Labor Day weekend in Royal Oak. The 19th Annual Ford Arts, Beats & Eats presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort is Friday, Sept. 2 - Monday, September 5.

You'll see art from artists and hear music from musicians across the nation. Local restaurants from the area will be bringing their best food in, too,

One of those restaurants is Woodpile BBQ in Clawson. BBQ pit master Steve "Bubba" Coddington joined us in the FOX 2 Cooking School to give us a preview of their food. You can get his pig candy recipe below.

You can get more information on Woodpile BBQ at www.woodpilebbqshack.com, and more information on Arts, Beats and Eats at www.artsbeatseats.com.

PIG CANDY

1# thick cut bacon (about 10-12 pcs)
1/2 cup Turbinado sugar
1/4 cup coarse black pepper
Baking pan
Baking rack

Place baking rack over sheet pan.
Lay out bacon on rack so grease drips away.
Sprinkle liberally with Turbinado sugar.
Sprinkle lightly with black pepper.
Bake or grill for 20 minutes at 350. Carefully remove from oven and lightly re-sprinkle with Turbinado sugar. Return to oven until done. Tip: It's better slightly underdone and chewy.
