Detroit Lions cheerleaders make official debut this weekend

The Detroit Lions Cheerleaders are making their official debut this weekend at the Lions season home opener against the Tennessee Titans. The game is Sunday.

This is the first team in more than 40 years. The team was whittled down to 28 girls after hundreds auditioned.

Their first performance as a team will be at 12:30 p.m., before the kickoff.

Tickets are still available for the Detroit Lions season home opener to see their historic debut. You can get tickets online at www.detroitlions.com.

Some of the cheerleaders joined us on The Nine. They say they are so excited for this weekend's game and can't wait to enhance the fan's experience. You can hear more them them by watching their interview in the video player above.

The cheerleaders are also reminding us to wear our Honolulu blue on Fridays during the season.

Post a picture on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #BlueOutFriday and you'll be eligible to win various Lions swag, or Quicken Loans Dream Seats for select home games.
