Detroit PAL One Thousand Kid Challenge

Detroit PAL provides safe activities for thousands of children across the city, and the organization is working to make sure no kids are turned away.

Detroit PAL has just launched the "One Thousand Kid Challenge" to meet that goal.

From time to time, the Detroit Police Athletic League is forced to turn away some Detroit youths due to lack of funding. Next year, they hope to change that with the 1,000 kid challenge.

Detroit PAL launched the 1,000 Kid Challenge Friday with a goal of raising $250,000 to support children in Detroit. Thanks to a Detroit Lion, they're already on their way.

Former Lions guard Rob Sims and his wife Natalie are the honorary chairs for the fundraiser and gave $50,000 to kick start the campagn, but they need your help. PAL set a goal of raising $250k for 1,000 (that's $250 per child) and here's what the money would provide:

-Two tickets for a PAL kid with a guardian to a Detroit Tigers game in 2015 (Game and tickets will be decided by the Detroit Tigers Major League Baseball Club).
-Your gift to the Detroit PAL Child Sponsorship program will ensure that each child receives all the support they need in participating on one or more Detroit PAL teams and sports. Your gift will provide the following: Trophies to winners and runner up teams and participation medals to all others

Here's what you'll get by becoming a sponsor:
-A personal thank you note from a child benefitting from a Detroit PAL donation (Donor will never be able to meet the child for protection purposes)
-A personal mid-year report from the child sponsored

Here's how to get involved in the Challenge:
-Become a PLATINUM Medalist and help 40 Detroit PAL youths by donating $10,000
-Become a GOLD Medalist and help 20 Detroit PAL youths by donating $5,000
-Become a SILVER Medalist and help 10 Detroit PAL youths by donating $2,500
-Become a BRONZE Medalist and help 5 Detroit PAL youths by donating $1,250
