Get Fit with True Body Fitness: Boot Camp

Kimo Frederiksen, personal trainer and owner of Detroit's True Body Fitness, brought some guests today to help him out.

Join True Body Fitness with their partners at Detroit Tough every Friday at 6:30 p.m. for an hour of grunting, sweating, swearing and laughing. They are looking to build a healthy outlet for our growing Gay community in metro Detroit. Come meet some new locals or just come to pick on the ones you already know. Class is a $10 suggested donation but there is absolutely no pressure to give. All proceeds will be split between The Ruth Ellis Center and Affirmations.

True Body Fitness is located in Corktown, near the old Tigers Stadium.

The Ruth Ellis Center:

The mission of the Ruth Ellis Center is to "provide residential safe space and support services for lesbian, gay, bi-attractional, transgender and questioning youth." The Center operates a Drop In Center and Outpatient Mental Health Program in Highland Park, MI and Ruth's House, their residential foster care facility for youth ages 12-17 in Detroit.

Affirmations:

Founded in 1989, Affirmations is metro Detroit's largest LGBTQ community center and one of the 10 largest LGBTQ community centers in the country. Using a multifaceted approach to community-building and support, Affirmations provides a holistic array of programs and services including XTL Youth Workforce Development and XTL Youth Leadership programs, support and discussion groups, counseling services, and recreational activities.  Affirmations is also home to the Pittmann-Puckett Art Gallery, the General Motors Foundation Media Center, the Bayard Rustin Library, and the Carl Rippberger Youth Drop-In Center. More than 20,000 guests visit the center annually.
