Getting rid of your junk? This business will sort, donate it to nonprofits

No job is too large or too small for the junk removal company Junk King.

While they are known for helping remove unwanted items from homes and businesses, Joi McQueen and Kent Garibaldi don't just dump the stuff in landfills. Since opening in Clawson, they've donated a majority of the "junk" they collect to local nonprofits.

Joi joined us on The Nine to tell us about some of the items charities need the most this time of year. You can hear from her in the video player above.

"We literally take anything, no matter what the size," Joi tells us (barring toxic materials, of course.) "Anything that can be recycled, we take to donation centers and recycle it."

One popular item Junk King gives out is kids' sporting equipment. Joi also says they've worked with local music teachers to give them pianos.

"It doesn't matter if it's a single item or a million items," she says. "You don't even have to take it to the curb - you can leave it in the attic, the basement, wherever it's at - and we'll pick it up."
