ROMULUS, Mich. (WJBK) - Jay Towers is out on special assignment for the next couple of days. Tuesday, December 5 kicked off his annual Jay's Juniors trip.
Every year, Jay's Juniors takes kids with chronic or terminal illnesses and their entire families on an all-expense paid vacation to Walt Disney World. This is the fourth year for the trip and 19 kids and their families are going along.
The trip kicked off with visits from some special people in the terminal, including Disney princesses, Captain America and Batman.
For so many of these kids, this may be the only chance to get away from doctors and hospitals -- and get out of the cold weather.
Applications for Jay's Juniors are collected around August each year. You can meet all of this year's Jay's Juniors here.
