Last chance tickets to Father Solanus Casey Beatification Mass

(WJBK) - The Beatification Mass for Father Solanus Casey is coming up next month. For those of you who wanted to attend but couldn't get one of the thousands of tickets that were quickly snapped up, you have one last chance.

The Michigan Catholic is holding a drawing on November 1 for 10 pairs of reserved seats to the Beatification Mass. The Michigan Catholic, the official publication of the Archdiocese of Detroit, will randomly draw names and provide 10 winners a pair of reserved tickets to the Beatification Mass of Fr. Solanus Casey at Ford Field on Nov. 18.

Subscribers to The Michigan Catholic are automatically entered.

If you're not a subscriber and would like to enter, you have until midnight on October 31 to enter at www.themichigancatholic.org. 

Names will be randomly drawn on All Saints Day, Nov. 1.

Father Patrick Gonyeau of the Archdiocese of Detroit's Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools joined us in studio to tell us more about the Beatification Mass. You can hear from him in the video player above. 

In May, Pope Francis announced the beatification of Casey, who died in 1957 at age 86.

Casey, who was known as Father Solanus, was a member of the Capuchin Franciscan Order of St. Joseph. He was one of the founders of Detroit's Capuchin Soup Kitchen, which still operates.

He had a reputation as a healer who greeted people for years at the doors of St. Bonaventure Monastery.
