(WJBK) - Hanukkah begins this year the evening of Sunday, December 2 and concludes the evening of Monday, December 10.
Culinary traditions play an integral role in this holiday, particularly with the use of oil that reminds us of the small jug of uncontaminated oil that miraculously burned eight whole days.
Itty Shemtov, co-director of The Shul - Chabad Lubavitch West Bloomfield, joined us on The Nine to show us how your family can make potato latkes at home. The potato pancakes are friekd in oil, which is rich in the symbolism of Hanukkah. They are also among the most popular Hanukkah dishes.
