Michigan DNR says camping at most popular parks still available after Labor Day

Just because summer is almost over and school is about to begin doesn't mean it's time to give up on going outdoors.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources us using this time of year to urge everyone to get outside, while you still can.

Dakota Hewlett, Assistant Trail Coordinator for the Iron Belle Trail set up a tent and firepit in the backyard of FOX 2 to show us exactly how to take advantage of this time of year.

The Michigan DNR reports that there is camp availability at parks around the state as reservations dip in August because of the popularity of Labor Day weekend trips. Even the most popular parks such as Tahquamenon Falls State Park still have some sites available.
