Motown Museum's Black Legacy Program Feb. 28

(WJBK) - The Motown Museum is ending Black History Month by celebrating Black family businesses in Detroit. 

The museum is hosting a Black Legacy Program honoring these businesses, as well as the entrepreneurial legacy of the Gordy family. The program is on Wednesday, February 28 at TechTown in Detroit from 6-8 p.m. 

During the event, attendees will hear a brief history of the Gordy family's migration to Detroit and how maintaining a family-first business helped shape the Motown Records Company. 

The Mays (Mays Printing), Cole (Cole Funeral Home), and Thomas (Sweet Potato Sensations) families will also share their business successes and failures.

Motown Museum program director Raina Baker joined us in studio to tell us more about the legacy program. You can hear from her in the video player above.
