Our Town Art Show and Sale to be held this weekend

The 30th Anniversary Our Town Art Show and Sale, presented by The DeRoy Testamentary Foundation and The Community House, will take place October 15 -17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Community House, 380 South Bates Street, Birmingham, MI. The juried, all media art show provides a forum for Michigan artists to show and sell their work. The art ranges from traditional to contemporary.Thirty-five percent of the proceeds from the art sales are used to fund TCH Outreach Programs for children and families in need. The show is open to the public at no charge.

Our Town starts with the "Art in Vogue" Opening Night Party, sponsored by Raymond James, on Wednesday October 14, 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. The evening includes strolling hors d'oeuvres, live musical entertainment, a live fashion/art presentation and the first opportunity to preview and purchase art. Friend tickets, with admission at 6:30 p.m., are $75. Benefactor tickets, with admission at 5:30 p.m., are $200.

This year's event will showcase 345 pieces of artwork and will award $10,000 in prize money to several artists selected for their outstanding work. Barbara Heller, Director and Conservator, Special Projects of the Detroit Institute of Arts and Robert Dempster, owner of Studio D are the jurors for this year's show.

The 2015 Our Town Art Show and Sale is co-chaired by Janice Degen and Elizabeth DuMouchelle.The Grand Honorees are Julie Dawson and Sally Gerak.This year's Honorees are all the past chairs of the Our Town event.
