President & CEO of Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, Mark Wallace, joined us to talk GM River Days and the conservancy's upcoming fundraising event. Watch in the video player above.
The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy's 8th Annual "Shimmer On The River" Fundraiser will return on Thursday, June 21. The riverfront will transform into a retro '60s wonderland for the event, its largest annual fundraiser, from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The evening will include live music, gourmet dining and carnival-themed fun.
The Conservancy will continue its tradition of showcasing local music at the annual summer festival, GM River Days presented by Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort.
Nearly 50 local music artists will perform during the three-day festival. Performances will range from rock, pop, indie and blues to alternative soul, party punk and of course, Motown. Festival-goers will also be treated to an aerial show performed by the Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum.
The event will take place from June 22 to June 24. The festival's $3 general admission ($5 after 3 p.m.) includes access to all performances. VIP premiere seats are now on sale for the major headlining performances featured on the Quicken Loans National Stage. The tickets are $35 and can only be purchased in advance of the festival. Purchases must be made online. Purchase tickets and learn more at RiverDays.com/Music.
