Safety Reminder for Pet Owners during the holidays

The Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit has some important reminders for owners to help keep their pets safe during the holidays. Katie Johnson, Director of Operations says remember to take steps to keep rich foods and desserts away from your pets. Make sure trash is also secure and that food/medications are out of reach. Create a safe space for shy pets, a room of their own with a comforting blanket/toy and fresh water to escape the festivities. Also be sure your pets are wearing ID tags and are micro-chipped. This week's adoptable pet is Forrest, a two-year old Shih Tzu. Those interested in adopting can complete an applications online at www.MetroDetroitAnimals.org. This can also be done in person at the Dearborn Animal Shelter, 2661 Greenfield Road, Dearborn. Or call 313-943-2697. The adoption fee is $250 and includes microchip, sterilization and age appropriate vaccinations.
