Techweek opens third year in Detroit

For the third straight year, Techweek is returning to the Motor City with plans to be bigger and better than ever.

Tech Week Detroit kicks off their third year here in Detroit. The seven-day-long festival of events ties together the tech ecosystem in the city, one that seemingly gets bigger every day.

"Tech week is an seven-day-long technology conference, festival and media platform. We bring together entrepreneurs, tech visionaries, leaders, all to celebrate local innovation,"  Amanda Signorelli, CEO of TechWeek told FOX 2's Derek Kevra.

For years, Detroit has been  talked about as a blossoming tech hub and it's never more apparent than nowm, Signorelli said. So much so, that Detroit is being named alongside some of the bi

"The other cities are Chicago, Toronto, Kansas City, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas and Toronto. We've got a pretty wide coverage and the nice thing about Detroit is, frankly, it embodies everything we believe in. There's so many cities out there with innovators, entrepreneurs that are looking for a national platform to tell their story. we see that in great ways for Detroit," Signorelli said.

Last year, over 2,500 attendees filed into Ford Field. This year, they're hoping for upwards of 3,000 at events acrsso Metro Detroit:
