(WJBK) - The 9th Annual BBQ Burnout is Saturday, May 14. It's at Dino's Lounge in Ferndale, and the parking lot in the Ferndale Public Library will be transformed into a 10,000 sq. ft. tented BBQ pavilion.
Burnout is a day of music, refreshing libations and mouthwatering barbeque by local businesses who team up to compete in the amateur rib cook-off. Each of the eight teams is backed by local businesses, who sponsor the purchase of the ribs and prepare them with their own unique recipes and bbq style, hoping to win the people's choice grand prize, the 5-foot championship trophy!
The event is from 12 - 9 p.m. VIP tasting is from noon - 4 p.m. and costs $30. General admission tasting starts after that and is now $10. You can get tickets at www.bbqburnout.com.

DINO'S OWN BBQ SAUCE
1 tbsp olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cup Open Pit BBQ Sauce (as base)
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/4 cup A-1 steak sauce
1/4 cup Worcestershire
1 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
In a medium-sized sauce pan, add olive oil and garlic. Sweat garlic but do not burn.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the pan and let simmer for about 15 minutes.
