Despite recent advances, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in women, affecting 500,000 women annually. Women are more likely than men to die after a first heart attack, and thereafter, are more likely to suffer a second heart attack.
The Ministrelli Women's Heart Center is presenting a conference this week to highlight gender differences of heart disease.
The conference is Wednesday morning, Feb. 17 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
