Jerel Duren is a dynamic, classically trained singer living and working in the reemerging city of Detroit.
Duren will be performing next Saturday, July 30 at Campus Martius.
Born to an equally talented and musical family, he was raised to express himself through song and performance.
Born and bred in the city, he attended Central State University in Ohio, where he took his passion for music to the next level, hosting and producing live performances on campus and pursuing a range of other artistic endeavors.
As an artist, he takes pride in his ability to translate life experiences into songs, honestly exploring the aspects of relationships in an artistic way.
Several years ago, Jerel brought the talent and experience he honed in college back home to Detroit, building a following that's allowed him opportunities to share his passion of performance with audiences not only in Detroit, but a host of other cities, including major artistic strongholds like Miami and New York City.
Jerel's music encourages youth, especially young men, to accept and express their emotions artistically.
His major influences include singer/songwriters Stevie Wonder and John Legend.
