Murals In The Market Arts & Culture Festival Kicks Off September 17th In Detroit's Eastern Market
Over 45 Local & International Artists & 20 + Events Spotlight Detroit's Cultural Scene.
Beginning September 17th, the inaugural Murals in the Market art festival will transform Detroit's Historic Eastern Market district into the epicenter of the city's burgeoning public art movement with nearly 50 large scale murals created over 9 days. Produced by fine art publisher 1xRUN and Eastern Market Corporation, Detroit's first mural festival invites over 45 world-class local and international artists to deepen the market's cultural legacy of public art with dozens of new must-see art installations.
Public art and communal creativity have always been an integral part of the Eastern Market district and shopping experience.  With a diverse group of artists from around the world Murals in the Market will continue to build the market district into an art destination, as well as being a culinary cornerstone of Detroit.
"Over the years we've seen how murals have impacted our community, driving exploration and providing visual art that anyone can interact with. The murals in Eastern Market have become and will continue to be an aspect of the market experience and visual landscape," Festival Director Roula David said.
On top of the massive lineup of local and international artists, Murals in the Market has also teamed up with Paxahau, Detroit Hustles Harder, Slow Roll, Haute To Death, Feet on the Street, Recycle Here! and more to host over 20 cultural events that will continue to tell the story of Detroit's creative core. Each event is open to the public and will activate the entire footprint of the Market with activities ranging from a block party and tailgating, to bike and walking tours, artist lectures and live music.
Original artwork and fine art editions from all 45 artists, as well as, limited edition merchandise will be available at 3 locations throughout the market, allowing fans and collectors to connect further with the festival and bring home unique items from their favorite artists. Open daily beginning September 17th - 26th, Division Street Boutique, Red Bull House of Art and Inner State Gallery will each host unique featured exhibitions.
A global destination for limited edition prints, 1xRUN will bring work from Murals in the Market to fans across the globe with new print releases each day at 12pm EST on
