Shades of Pink Foundation's Walk at the Zoo

Battling breast cancer can take its toll -- mentally, physically and financially.

The Shades of Pink Foundation provides temporary financial assistance to women experiencing monetary hardship as a direct result of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Daily living expenses, including mortgage and rent payments, transportation costs, day care expenses, utility bills and groceries are all ways the foundation can help.

To do it, organizers need resources. The 9th Annual "A Walk at the Zoo" fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, April 30 at the Detroit Zoo.

Foundation co-founder and breast surgeon Dr. Pamela Benitez, and foundation client RayDean Steiner dropped by the Fox2 Studios Sunday morning to preview the event and discuss the importance of supporting the effort.
