Winner of Team Roop vs. Team Deena in 21-Day Challenge revealed

 

What can motivate you to eat healthy foods and take more steps everyday? Around here, we found it was a little competition that got our healthy juices flowing.

This is where it all started on March 30.  The 21-Day Challenge teamed FOX 2 up with St john Providence Health to first figure out our numbers. 

We measured things like blood pressure,  body mass index and waste circumference. Let's just say it was a rude awakening for many of us. 

"I'm horrified, I need to lose 71 pounds," Jay Towers quipped. "(And) I need to get taller."

The goal was to follow 5 Do's, 5 Don't and lose maybe 5 pounds. 

The Do's included eating veggies, lean proteins, fruits, whole grains and increasing physical activity.

What didn't we do?  Soda, salt, fried foods, white stuff and sweet treats were all off limits. 

Thanks to our 21-Day Challenge Facebook page, we had hundreds of fox 2 viewers jumping in on our challenge finding support from each other.  

So after 21 days of doing our best and logging thousands of steps ...it was time to find out, which team saw the biggest drop in weight? 

Team Deena lost 60 pounds, while Team Roop lost about 49 pounds. 

The goal was to create some lasting positive habits and drop some weight, which meant all involved can call themselves winners.
