Breast cancer survivor continues run from Michigan to New York

A Michigan breast cancer survivor is taking a 470-mile journey from metro Detroit to New York with just her sneakers and her strength.

Davina McNaney's story begins when she was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after the age of 40. She was strong and seemingly healthy, so she couldn't believe she had this diagnosis.

After a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, Davina's life started anew, as a breast cancer survivor. Now for her, it's time to give back.

Her run will raise money for the breast cancer research foundation. She has already raised $10,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Thursday, Davina hit the halfway mark in Madison, Ohio.

On video, she says she has two black toenails, three blisters, a swollen ankle and chaffing - but she's "still smiling and still moving forward."

In her blog, she writes her husband will follow behind to watch over and ensure she arrives at all her destinations safely.

You can stay updated on Davina's progress on her Facebook page through July 3, when she plans to be at her final destination.
