Hideous Holiday Sweater Run for scleroderma

Bad fashion for a good cause.

We are getting out our hideous holiday sweaters to benefit scleroderma in Michigan.

Hilary Smith, stopped by to talk about the "Hideous Holiday Sweater Run"

Her mother recently passed away from complications with scleroderma.

"It is an autoimmune disease of the connective tissue," said Smith. "That can harden the skin and in severe cases, the internal organs."

Skin complications can include the hardening, like a shell, or red spots, while the heart, kidneys or any internal organ could harden.

There is no cure and the cause is not known, but research continues.

This weekend at Kensington Metropark in Milford, the Hideous Holiday Sweater Run will be held.
