Teen may have been shot for pair of Jordans in southwest Detroit

- Police continue to look for three teens in connection with a shooting that has left a 17-year-old recovering in a local hospital. Investigators say a pair of Jordans may have sparked the violence.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. Saturday along Elmer Street in southwest Detroit.

Erica Sanchez has two young children. She's lived on Elmer Street for three years and gun violence is all too common there. Sanchez says she wasn't home at the time of the recent shooting, but says whenever she does hear shots fired she quickly tells her children to lay down on the floor to avoid stray bullets.

"It's kind of crazy out here."

Police say they don't have a good description of the three suspects, but believe they are likely between the ages of 13 and 18.

"It's just sad. They're young," Sanchez says.

Right now police aren't sure if the suspects and victim know each other.

The victim was in stable condition at last check.

If you know anything about the shooting, you're asked to call Detroit Police.
