The Humane Society offers the warning for owners. As we head into Thanksgiving and the holiday season, it's a good time to remember these safety tips for our pets from the Michigan Humane Society. Keep an eye on the front door! As guests come in and out, that can be a prime moment for your pet to get outside and get lost. Watch the activity level, not all pets enjoy the company of lots of people, so have a quiet space set aside for them to have a break. Avoid fatty food like turkey skin or dark meat, also turkey bones can be dangerous if they are ingested. Other dangerous food includes gravy, stuffing, onions, garlic, raisins and alcoholic beverages.
