Authorities say the teen shot his mother, and pointed the gun at his brother before running away. It happened in their Detroit home in the 15 thousand block of Wisconsin, which is near Wyoming Avenue and the John C. Lodge Freeway.
After a 14-hour search, the teen was found and arrested the next day. Neighbors recognized him walking down a street and called police. He was just a few blocks from home.
The mother was taken to the hospital and received treatment for multiple gunshot wounds.
The teen has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Felonious Assault, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm, and will be tried in the juvenile court system.
He is due in court for a preliminary hearing the afternoon of Thursday, June 18.
