14-year-old apprehended after mother shot during argument

Detroit police confirm they've apprehended the 14 year-old boy accused of shooting his mother Thursday night after an argument.

Police officials confirm the was taken into custody Friday morning around 10:30 a.m. near Meyers Road and Appoline - less than 2 miles from his home on the 15000 block of Wisconsin where the shooting allegedly occurred. He was spotted by residents who recognized him from the news coverage.

The mother, 38, is recovering at Sinai-Grace Hospital and is listed in serious condition. Just before the boy was arrested, his family made an emotional on camera plea for him to surrender.

Michigan State Police assisted with the search, using canines and a helicopter.
