Calvin's body was hit and thrown several feet in the air, he lay there his family says no offered to come to the man's aid.
"A human being gets hit and no one stops to help him. Even if you hit him why not pull over and try to help him? You could've saved his life. Now my nephew is gone and we're out here celebrating his life and you could've saved his life," says Rutherford's aunt Carolyn Rutherford.
Police say he died as an ambulance took him to the hospital.
Family of Rutherford's tell us that he had just started a job at Ford's and was going to college.
Police say there were no witnesses to the accident and police don't have a description of the driver or the vehicle.
The Rutherford family say that area is very dark at night there and there are no street lights, so its possible the driver may not have known what exactly happened when they hit Calvin.
If you have any information about what happened or if you were behind the wheel of the vehicle that fatally struck Rutherford, please contact Detroit Police.
