Driving conditions treacherous from snowy winter blast

While in the midst of a deep freeze, metro Detroit is now dealing with snow - and worsening road conditions.

The treacherous conditions could affect the morning commute.

On Thursday night the overpasses proved to be extra slippery. And on many sidewalks and walk ways, a sheet of ice was hidden below a coating of snow.

The Michigan Department of Transportation reported multiple accidents around the area on nearly every freeway including I-96, I-696, I-75 and I-94.

Tonight's storm is presenting a challenge for evening commuters. The steady snow combined with bone chilling temperatures is making it dangerous all over.

One MDOT camera shot captured the view of a disabled car on its side on I-696 and M-10.

In this weather it is recommended that if your car stalls, stay inside and don't try to walk.

FOX 2's Ron Savage spoke with various drivers who braved the conditions Thursday night.
