From a quiet neighborhood to the center of an unnerving crime. What happened in this west side Detroit intersection isn't setting well with neighbors.
"That's shocking, very shocking," said resident Dee Watkins. "It is right here where I live. It is unheard of."
"I'm just sad to hear that happened right on the side of the street and I didn't even know," said neighbor Selene Whitfield. "I didn't even know. We will be watching."
"I have two daughters who live here with me, one is of legal age, one is a minor. You don't want to hear things like that, but we are always being cautious and watching. I try to watch my surroundings the best I can."
Police tell us the man was able to drive himself to the hospital. They warn if you run into car trouble it is always best to try to get to a well-lighted area with a lot of people - like a gas station.
And of course, if someone tries to steal from you, give it to them. It's not worth losing your life over.
"I just really hope the guy is okay and I hope police can find out who it is and it can be peaceful around here," Watkins said.
