Pleasant Ridge Police Chief, Garden City accused of sexual assault

Accused of sexually assaulting a teenager in 1990, Kevin Nowak, the Pleasant Ridge chief of police is being sued in federal court.

However Nowak was not the only defendant named in the suit, there are 7 other defendants who are being sued by a Garden City woman who was a teen when she claims the assaults occurred. The woman claims she was a member of the Garden City Explorer Post from 1989 through 1993.

The woman claims that she waited nearly 25 years to file the suit against her attackers because she was mentally incapacitated to file any such suits because the abuse she had suffered. 

Nowak said he could not speak to us regarding the pending litigation. 

The accuser is seeking damages of up to $75,000 against each defendant.
