2 firefighters injured in Grosse Pointe Park

Two firefighters have been injured while battling a fire in Grosse Pointe Park Monday morning.

The fire was at the Sunrise Sunset Saloon at Charlevoix and Lakepointe streets, and spread next door to the fitness center Rock n Ride. Both businesses have been destroyed.

One firefighter is hospitalized for a broken ankle, and the other is being treated for smoke inhalation.

Crews say putting out the fire was difficult because they had to fight it from the outside of the building. Police have closed off the streets because they're concerned the walls could collapse.

The fire started late Sunday night, and continued burning into Monday morning. Crews were still at the scene after 8 a.m.

No word on a cause of the fire.
