2 shot by off-duty Detroit police officer at the Palace of Auburn Hills

It was more than laughs for those who attended the Kevin Hart comedy show Saturday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Auburn Hills police say that Saturday night shortly after midnight, the Auburn Hills Police personnel working at the Palace for the Kevin Hart performances responded to a shooting in the parking lot.

The incident occurred just prior to the second performance of Kevin Hart. An off duty Detroit Police Officer was in the parking lot attempting to change a flat tire in a parking space. A second vehicle pulled up and attempted to park next to the car with the flat tire. There was a verbal dispute then a physical altercation when two of the occupants of the second vehicle exited their vehicle. During the altercation the off duty Detroit Police officer fired his weapon striking two people.

The gunshot victims are a 32-year-old male from Detroit and a 31-year-old female from Harper Woods. The off duty Detroit officer is 26-years-old, sustained a head injury during the incident. All three were transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

There are no life threatening injuries. The incident was contained to the parking lot.

The incident remains under investigation by the Auburn Hills Police Department with the assistance from Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT). MCAT is made up of investigations from the Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Twp., Clawson, Troy, Rochester City and Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
