Eastpointe stabbing victim's boyfriend and father of slain baby, turns self in

A mother and her baby girl were found murdered inside their Eastpointe home.

A suspect turned himself into police custody in the murder of Monique Rakowski, 29, and her 13-month-old baby daughter Carmon.

Rakowski's boyfriend and father of Carmon turned himself into Dearborn police several hours later and is being held in custody. He is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.

Sources tell FOX 2 that he had injuries from the stabbing.

"This is a tragedy that will forever be there," said family member Nicole Hrosc.  "It's just horrifying. I am horrified for him."

Both victims were found stabbed to death inside the bathroom of their house in the 23,000 block of Normandy Avenue, near Nine Mile and Kelly roads.

Rakowski's father found them and the details of the crime scene are so gruesome FOX is not sharing them.

"I think we're just in shock," said family member Belinda Jaeger. "She was the last person I thought I would ever see on TV. I just don't know what to say."

Rakowski's father stopped by the house when she never showed up to pick up her 10-year-old son. She was known to be reliable and trustworthy, which led him to believe something was wrong.

Charles Meeks is the father of Rakowski's son.

"I am in disbelief," he said. "I don't understand why somebody can be so heartless. Now for the rest of my life I am going to have to try and help my son get past everything."

Family members remember Rakowski fondly.

"She was such a great person and she did not deserve this at all," said Hrosc. "And that sweet baby didn't, either."
