Police say the victim, a woman, was involved in the standoff situation in the 16 thousand block of Bringard Drive, which is near the intersection of Kelly Road and 8 Mile Road.
The standoff ended with a peaceful surrender on Bringard Drive. According to police, the 27-year-old woman is safe, as is her 7-year-old child that she shares with her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Nathaniel Nix Jr. He was led away in cuffs in Wednesday
Police believe the standoff situation was related to a kidnapping that took place earlier Wednesday morning. Craig said Nix spotted his ex driving and rammed her with his car on Cadiex Road. After hitting her, Detroit Police Lt. Mark Thornton said he put both the woman and their 7-year-old son in his car and left.
"The road rage scenario transpired with him ramming into his car a few times," Lt. Thornton said. "He exited his vehicle, put the child and her into his car and then fled the scene."
He eventually dropped the child off at his sister's home but left with his ex girlfriend in the car.
By that time, police had arrived and tried to track him down. They eventually found him at a home on Bringard with the woman.
Police said he had a warrant out of warren on domestic violence charges. Police say his rap sheet is long. They say he's a known drug dealer and runs a chop shop. He was currently out on bond and is facing 17 different charges including larceny from a car, conducting a criminal enterprise, and receiving and concealing stolen property.
