Thieves break into a KFC safe

The bold bandits bust into the fast food restaurant and use a saw to cut open the safe. Police think the two have hit other businesses.

They must truly love KFC because whenever they go in, the sparks fly. The thieves light up the inside of the KFC on Gratiot Road and Mt. Elliot early Saturday morning by way of a grinder saw. Maybe its the long sought after colonels recipe they're after as they furiously attack the restaurant's safe.

In the light of day you can see the effort it took just to get into the restaurant. The thieves used a crowbar to bust out the drive through window, then crawl through. The methods look extreme, but this isn't the first time it's been done. A few months ago police say thieves used a gas-powered cement saw to get at the safe at the exact same store.

While they are criminals, they are appear to be loyal when it comes to fried chicken targets. Police say in the past six months similar crimes have been reported at KFC's on 8 Mile and Rex and 8 Mile and Dequindre.

They commit these crimes after hours and always go straight for the safe. Fox 2 was told the restaurants keep start-up money for the next business day in the safe. Crime Stoppers is hoping you recognize this pair.  If you know them call 1-800-speak-up.

The police captain working the burglary, said in all of these cases the crooks were extremely fast, in and out in six minutes or less. They want to catch them before they decide to strike again.
