Family, community mourns after death of Bernie's Market owner

Since Dave Spencer and his photographer arrived at Bernie's Market Saturday, the sight of a fatal shooting that took owner Emil Salem's life, there was hardly a minute that went by without someone coming by to say a prayer, someone to drop off flowers, or just stop to look.

This is all is just a testament to what one person can mean to a community
and now word that police say they have two people in custody for the shooting death of Emil Salem.

According to his family, Salem was considered the glue of the family.

We are told that time and time again people would walk into the liquor store on Garfield in Clinton township as a customer, but would end up leaving as a friend.

A memorial has started after the owner, Salem was shot and killed during a robbery on Thursday night.  Police say Salem was armed and able to fire back at the robber, possibly wounding the suspect.

On Saturday we learned that police had a 2 persons of interest in custody for the shooting.  Police say a man with two gunshot wounds took himself to a hospital in Toledo. He along a woman said to be the get-away-driver from the night of the robbery are in custody.

Salem leaves behind a wife and four children and the family has set up a go fund me account to help take of those he now leaves behind. The link is below.
